I had a very positive experience with Bernardo’s painting. I had requested that they paint the exterior wall of a portion of my house to fix a painting mistake done by a roofing company. After the rough experience with the roofing company, Bernardo had a lot of the qualities that I now look for in businesses that I want to use.
Foremost, his communication was punctual and honest. He also made the experience personal and always made sure that we were comfortable with the process. He really cared about the finished product and not just about covering things up. The end product looked amazing and I would highly recommend Bernardo.

Bernardo’s Painting did an amazing job making my house look brand new again!
I obtained quotes from other companies, some quoted higher and some lower prices, but decided to use Bernardo’s Painting mainly because of the amount of positive reviews they received from other customers.
During my quote with Bernardo, he really listened to my concerns and what I wanted out of my project and gave me options/routes I can take without sounding like a salesman. Speaking of listening to my concerns, I read a negative review saying that they were asked unrelated questions that had nothing to do with their project. I too was asked these questions BUT I was shortly led to believe that Bernardo is ‘listening’ to his customers, learning mistakes made by other contractors and trying not to repeat them… Quite clever if you ask me.
Moving forward, day 1 eave vents around my entire house were installed and did a complete pressure wash down of the house. Day 2, everything masked, house and trim was completed by early afternoon. I couldn’t believe how quickly the house was painted so I did my own careful walk around expecting to see a hack/rushed job. I was just amazed at how well the attention to detail was around the trim and how clean the separation of different color paint lines were. I also checked behind difficult painting areas such as my AC condensing unit outside where I can’t even fit my hand behind, yet the wall behind it had an even thick coat of paint! Day 3, painted my garage door and did a complete walk through for any touch ups and everything was done before lunch!
Im in awe with the quality of work performed in such a short amount of time. Bernardo’s painting really knows how to do their job efficiently and meticulous without sacrificing quality. I’ve got nothing but great things to say about Bernardo’s Painting, they know what they’re doing and they do it very well, unlike other companies who hire apprentices to practice painting (I don’t think anyone reading this would pay to have their house practiced on). I am completely satisfied with my decision to choose Bernardo’s Painting and would absolutely recommend them!

I am extremely impressed with Bernardo’s Painting. As a company, they have an overall work ethic of putting the client first and being cognizant and respectful of their needs. I cannot say enough good things about the owner, Bernardo, and his crew. But let me give my best attempt.
My wife and I planned our recent home renovation in two phases. The first phase involved installing split AC and removing the existing window AC units that were built into the walls. The second phase would be painting the interior of our home.
I reached out to multiple painting and AC contractors. Luckily, I chose well in both cases. Bernardo was able to have his in-house carpenter (Fabian) build the framing for the holes left in the walls that the window AC’s created. He also fixed the exterior siding and painted the patches to match the rest of the house. From the outside of our house, you can’t even tell there used to be large, rectangular cutouts for old AC units! Bernardo also contracted a drywall subcontractor to patch up the interior. The interior repair job was just as seamless as the exterior. Very impressive job, and that was before the interior painting.
The wall repair work was more costly than my wife and I anticipated, so we asked Bernardo if we could hold off on the painting work until we saved more funds. Bernardo was very understanding and accommodating to our needs. A little more than 6 months later, we called him up to schedule the interior painting. Bernardo honored his initial quote and had his crew at our home about a week after my call.
In my line of work, I deal with many contractors from all disciplines. It’s common to have a leader (owner, superintendent, foreman) who is capable, respectful, and takes pride in their work. It’s very rare to have an entire work crew who conducts themselves in the same manner. Esmo, Clyde, Fabian, Gary, CJ, and Preston were a joy to work with. They took great care in protecting our belongings from getting paint on them and put things back EXACTLY how they were at the end of each day. They were extremely efficient with how they worked, and did their best to sequence their work to cause the least disruption to me as I worked from home. They arrived early each day, cleaned everything up by the end of the day, and had great communication with their progress. Other little things that may sound silly, but are greatly appreciated (especially after experience with previous contractors):
-They were very friendly to our dog, and made sure he didn’t accidentally rub up against wet walls and get paint on him
-They left the bathrooms clean after using them throughout the day
-They asked where they could store their materials so it would not be in our way
-They made sure to do the baby’s room and the master bedroom first so that we would have access to them as soon as possible
-They worked very well together, and obviously enjoyed doing so
That last point is important. A crew that works well together does a better job. And since they were always in a good mood, they were easily approachable with comments or questions. I talked story with almost all of them, and they are all down-to-earth, very good guys.
At the end of each day, Bernardo came to check on the progress and make sure that everything was being done to our satisfaction.
And on top of all of that, the price was very reasonable, especially considering that they use the top-of-the-line paint from Sherwin Williams.
I will be recommending Bernardo’s Painting to anyone I know who may need exterior or interior painting.

Christmas miracle! We were trying to move by Christmas but got the keys on Dec 22. The painters met us there that morning and knocked out a four bedroom, stair hallway, and lift area in 1 1/2 days so we had time to move in! They prompt, easy to work with, reasonably priced, and did a great job. Thank you!

We are extremely pleased with the new look of our Mililani Mauka home. Kudos to Bernardo’s painting crew. His guys were professional, polite and very neat. In addition to a beautiful paint job, they repaired some water damaged trim and some cracks by our front door. Bernie’s color guidance prior to starting the job proved to be especially valuable to us.
When the job was finished, Bernie came back and did a careful inspection. He found a couple of very minor spots he wanted touched up. His lead painter, Esmo, returned this morning and touched up spots we would have never noticed. We highly recommend Bernardo’s Painting if you are seeking a professional paint job.

I couldn’t be more impressed with Bernardo’s Painting! Bernardo came over to give a quote on an exterior paint job for my house and it was pretty reasonable. He was very through and honest in his evaluation of my house and the job that needed to be done. Other contractors we talked to were short on specifics but Bernardo spoke from experience and gave me several options to chose from… a good problem to have lol ;).
The crew came over and they were really good guys and were very through. They finished the interior and exterior within the timeframe agreed upon and I couldn’t have been happier with the result. I can’t recommend Bernardo’s Painting enough!

We hired Bernardo’s Painting because of the great recommendations from friends as well as the very positive online reviews. His estimate was more expensive than some others, but because of the reviews and recommendations, we chose his company.
We were not disappointed. We have a large house which required complete interior and exterior painting, and they were here almost six weeks, performing extensive preparation work and applying two coats of premium paint to every surface. They finished yesterday. Bernardo’s painters are very friendly, meticulous in their work, protect things inside and outside very thoroughly, and they seem happy in their job. One neighbor commented that she enjoyed hearing their banter as they worked. Bernardo is a perfectionist, which is much appreciated. They even washed all of our windows on completion of the job!
We are thrilled with the final product and appearance of our home. We recommend Bernardo’s Painting enthusiastically and without any reservation.

Bernardo’s company is the ultimate in professional service. We have used them several times for various projects over the years, but the most recent project was extensive, and they came through again.
Bernardo’s estimate process was very thorough – complete with photographs – and he was always available to answer questions.

I found Bernardo’s Painting on yelp and was impressed by their positive reviews. They were not the lowest estimate, but the reason I chose them was that Bernardo took the time to walk around the house with me and we went over all of my concerns. I should mention that I was so caught up with other maintenance projects that before I new it 13 years had passed since the last paint job. There was so much fading from the sun that the original paint was bleeding through.
The crew was really very nice. They worked well together and did an outstanding job. A special thank you to Clyde for painting the lights. I’m happy with my house again.

We had used Bernardo for a interior job some years ago so when it came time to paint the exterior of our home, we called him again. He met with us and was not only knowledgeable and totally professional but easy to talk with and not at all pushy or ‘salesy’. While we were deciding about whether to do the job we mentioned it to our good friends (who are really picky) and they weighed in and said, “we know the best painter, his name is Bernardo!”. It turned out they had also had him do work and were thrilled with his company.
The proof is in the work; his crew were all efficient, detail oriented, friendly and conscientious! We could not be happier with the completed project! We will use him again if the need arises.

This is a long overdue review. We were so busy when we listed our home for sale, went into contract and then the Covid-19 happened. Now we are nearly packed and ready to move out. We believe that our freshly painted exterior really helped to sell our home. I can now leave the review for Bernardo’s Painting that is so well deserved. We looked at three painting companies including Bernardo’s. Each came out to look at the exterior of our home which was badly in need of paint. We have a 2 story stucco home with two-tone paint and white trim which I believe is a little more challenging to paint.
I noticed right away how personable and very professional Bernardo was. He listened intently to what we needed done. He took measurements and pictures which made me take note that he wanted to ensure that he had everything he needed for his proposal before driving away. Bernardo’s proposal was the most professional and detailed of the three that we received. He was also accommodating and always took the time to answer any questions that I had. He never made me feel rushed or that I was a bother.
I also looked at his website and did my due diligence by checking to make sure his company was not only licensed and in good standing, but also carried the insurance that he should have for his employees. We chose Bernardo’s Painting because he made us feel like we could trust him, that he would stand behind his work. We wanted a company that did business above board meaning they are licensed, insured and bonded. Bernardo explained the type of Sherwin Williams paint he used which was so helpful. Once the painting job started we noticed the crew was considerate, respectful and very hard working. We saw the exterior of our home starting to transform from tired, faded and dusted with red dirt, to beautiful, vibrant and fresh.
We had some very small things that we pointed out that needed to be touched up and Bernardo quickly had that done. No questioning, no back and forth, very professional. Our thanks goes out to Bernardo and his entire crew. They are outstanding in what they do everyday. We also worked closely with Preston and he was so kind and easy to work with as well. Bernardo is truly the person that I sensed him to be. He has character, integrity and is truly a man of his word. We highly recommend Bernardo’s Painting.
